Bathing in the River

An original painting
by Carlo Jean-Jacques

Circa 1980s - 30 inches x 24 inches

Oil on Canvas; Framed.

Framed size: 34½ inches x 28½ inches

In rural Haiti, the river serves not only as a source of water, but also as a social gathering spot where people bathe, wash their clothes, and exchange news and gossip. In this large painting—rendered in Jean-Jacques' typical muted pallet—more than a dozen women happen to be bathing, but group conversations appear to be their primary activity.

Condition: Excellent in a rustic, hand-carved Haitian wood frame.
