Artist from Haiti ( 04 Jul 1973 - )
Reynald Joseph was born in Port-au-Prince on July 4, 1973. By the age of thirteen he was already using his budding talent as an artist to earn money. At that time he left school and instead studied painting with his 'spiritual father' and mentor, the famous artist Wilfrid Louis. Louis demanded that his students use only the three primary colors and mix all other colors themselves, and to this day Reynald adheres to this practice.
In 1989, at the age of sixteen, Reynald participated in a group exhibition in Mexico where the Mexican Vice President purchased his painting. He has since become internationally recognized as an artist of exceptional talent and vision, and is widely collected.
Stylisticly an heir to Carlo Jean-Jacques, Reynald Joseph is one of our favorite contemporary Haitian artists.
