In rural Haiti, the river serves not only as a source of water, but also as a social gathering spot where people bathe, wash their clothes, and exchange news and gossip. In this large painting--rendered in Jean-Jacques' typical muted pallet--more than a dozen women happen to be bathing, but group conversations appear to be their primary activity.
Condition: Excellent in a rustic, hand-carved Haitian wood frame.
