Dambala Wedo, Erzulie Fréda Daromey et Maitre Ogou Fieraille
An original painting
by André Pierre
Circa 1984 - 39 inches x 29½ inches
Oil on Linen; Stretcher edges finished with black tape.
Loa rendered in Pierre's trademark style, this large painting features Dambala holding a two-headed snake, Erzulie with her tree trunk legs emerging from a river, and Ogou standing near his fire. An offering altar is in the background.
Condition: Good. The painting was shipped to us rolled, and we had it professionally re-stretched, with the edges finished in acid-free black canvas tape. Apparently, the painting had previously been roughly removed from stretchers, resulting in some loss of visible area at the edges when it was re-stretched. There is some cracking to the painting's surface, but no loss.
