Spéculation
An original painting
by Wilmino Domond
Dated 1972 - 36 inches x 16 inches
Oil on Masonite; Framed.
Framed size: 40 inches x 20 1/2 inches
Signed Wilmino Domond and inscribed Speculation A Marbial Jacmel Haïti 1972 (Marbial is a district of Jacmel, and was once one of the main coffee producers in the Caribbean.)
This unique painting portrays the activity at a Coffee Station where sacks of coffee are weighed and loaded on a truck for shipment. The man seated at the right appears to be inspecting coffee beans. I can't help wondering if the man in the white shirt to the left—watching a sack being weighed on the scale—might be a self-portrait of the artist, who was a coffee farmer.
Condition: Excellent; bright and fresh in a beautiful hand-carved frame of the period.
