In this large, meal-time scene, cocks fight, a dog barks, chickens run around, and a woman is in labor, yet everyone—including the woman in labor—seems calm and relaxed.

Condition: Very good in a custom black frame. The center of the masonite is slightly bowed out.

Kristina Barbara Johnson (d. 2013) was named one of America’s Top 100 Collectors in Art and Antiques from 1986 to 1996. She spent forty years as a trustee of the American Folk Art Museum, curating several exhibitions and introducing a yearly lecture series; her eye for folk and self-taught or 'outsider' art was both intuitive and informed.
