1st Edition in Dust Jacket

London: Secker and Warburg, 1957.

First edition. Hardcover.

8vo (5½ in x 8 in) - 347 pages.

The story of Alfred Desseau, son of a wealthy French creole family in Trinidad, and his affair with the English-born wife of an old schoolmate. Set in Trinidad, London, and Saint Lucia.

Condition: Very good in boards and a good dust jacket. A name has been erased from the front pastedown and the front endpaper shows some foxing. The dust jacket is sunned at the spine, worn at the extremities, has short closed tears at the top and bottom of the rear panel, and tape residue stains on the flaps and the rear panel.
